Volunteer Roles
Athlete Buddies
Spend a fun-filled day one-on-one with an athlete! Buddies hang out with specific athletes and their teams for the entire event. Buddies meet and greet their athletes in the morning as soon as they arrive to the event and provide support while preparing for races, during races and awards ceremonies, and while the athletes mingle with their own, and other, team members as they participate in Arts & Crafts, Sports and Recreation, and lunch!
Pool Area
Volunteer in the center of it all! Timers, runners, heat organizers, bullpen and lifeguards are all needed to make this event run smoothly. These volunteers are here to keep the races running on time and in order. With a high volume of traffic flowing in and out of the pool area, organizational skills are a must for this type of volunteer. The perk? You get to see it all and cheer on the athletes as they compete!
Sports Clinic
Love sports and physical activity? Volunteer with the sports clinic! Arranged in the gym with a variety of bustling activities from volleyball to hula hooping, you will be responsible for engaging athletes and their buddies in some organized fun! Planning on becoming a physical education teacher? Then this would be a great experience to add to your resume!
Safety Patrol
Protect and serve. Safety patrol is responsible for the well-being of the event's participants. Working in rotating shifts they keep a watch for anything that may be awry during the event. Safety patrol makes sure all athletes are with their buddies or team coaches, that athletes and volunteers are following the rules of the swim meet, and that the halls are kept clear during heat and event transitions. By keeping order and a watchful eye, safety patrol makes sure that this year's event not only flows smoothly but is a safe environment for all attendees. Must be 21 and over to volunteer with safety patrol.
Food & Refreshments
Everybody has to eat... and that's why we serve food and refreshments! Help to set up and serve the food for this year's event by pouring coffee or soda, preparing food to be sold, setting up breakfast and lunch, and breaking down the station at the end of the event. Food equals energy and energy equals excellent athletic performance!
Arts & Crafts
Help to create a little reminder for our participants. Arts & Crafts volunteers set up areas and teach athletes and buddies how to create beautiful and fun trinkets throughout the day. Every year different crafts are offered and the tables are overflowed with people waiting to participate in the memorable crafts. Volunteers in this area help bring a little order to the chaos.
Awards
The Guts & the Glory. Awards is the culmination of the entire event! Athletes work hard to get to the regional swim meet and the awards ceremony is important to them. This is where athletes are rewarded for their hard work and effort-filled pool performance. Volunteers help athletes receive their awards, make sure that they are seated while waiting, and meet with buddies or coaches after receiving their medals or ribbons.
Friday Night Set-Up/Saturday Night Clean-Up
A prepared event is a happy event! Don't have a lot of time but would still like to volunteer? Come help set up, and clean up, the big event! It takes lots of time and effort to get everything up and functioning for Saturday and it takes a lot of time and effort to take it all down again...
As Needed Volunteers
Like to gamble? Maybe a little confused as to what to choose? Then let us pick for you! Sometimes all we need is just a little more help in a certain area, and trust us, we appreciate all the help we receive.
